Celebration week-end

Last Saturday we had Sophie and David. Sophie had 2 of her GCSE's marked again because the school found out one teacher had given ridiculously low notes to everybody, so she ended up with her 2 A's she was so unhappy about being transformed into 2 A*, making her final results being 11 A*. Gosh, this kid is clever . . .

As of David he was leaving to go back to Bath University on Sunday morning so we decided to all go and celebrate in a small Indian restaurant. The food was just OK, but we all had a nice time and a lot of laughing.

This is the latest photo of Kiki, my friend's kitten. When I see her, I want a cat . . .

“Love is Like a friendship caught on fire”   by Bruce Lee

What is important to you in a friendship?

Tell us this week about some friendships that have grown over the years.
About friends you have lost touch with and why?

I have never been very popular at primary school or high school because . . .  where should I start ?

I said before my mum was over protective, so my problem was that I didn't know how to react with people because I was kind of never with people . I expected them to love me at first sight, what of course didn't happen and I was so kind of silly in my behavior and also in the way I was dressed ( in an extremely conventional way) that I was more bullied than anything else.

I had a couple of girls I was friend with at school, but I was seldom going to their house as my mum preferred they come to ours. We had to live the door of my bedroom always open so somehow it was taking all the fun away of having friends.

I might make my mum sound like a dragon, she wasn't too far from that, LOL.

Then I went to the Uni, had the first boyfriends (no, not at the same time, one after the other), then graduated, then the first thing I did was to go away and live my life, I think you know the story, I first went to Jordan.

In fact, I traveled so much through the following years that not staying too long in the same place, it was very hard to develop friendships.

I eventually managed when I moved to Germany. I told you about my trip to Australia and New Zealand and my big mid-life crisis when I was in my mid thirties. When I eventually came back to Germany, I was somebody else and I was ready.

I have very few friends, whom I call Friends with a capital F, less than the fingers of one hand but we are extremely close. The funny thing is that they all are abroad. We can stay 8 months without contact but as soon as we speak again, we just continue where we left it, as if it were yesterday.

I have noticed I mainly establish friendships with foreigners or people being very open minded. I am very bad at small talks stuff and I like people who have kind of crazy dreams, when you start a conversation at 11 pm and try to redo the world and are still working on the plans at 5am. That's why Dennis and I fit so well together . Both crazy the same way . . .

Take care everybody, xxx

Great post Anne. We are all unique in our own ways and that is what makes us special. I bet you are a wonderful, loyal friend to those that you let close enough. I agree that you and Dennis (what I have read about him anyway)are a perfect match. I'm proud to know you!
