Is it winter yet ?

The storm we were waiting for didn't come but instead we got a very cold and humid weather. I had to change our duvet from the Summer one to Winter one and it's the first day I go to the park with a coat. I think if it goes on that way,  we will celebrate the return of the Big Red Whale soon . . .

Despite the weather, we had a nice walk. We met an adorable 6 months old Golden Retriever puppy who understands that Rhea is older and didn't jump on her so we had a long walk all together and Rhea was happy to have this little friend with us.

Nostalgia Challenge September : School days hosted by Kathi.

Before I start 2 importants things today :

Kathi I hope all what happened in Washington D.C. didn't touch you and you are all safe.

Happy Birthday, Lynne

I also started with "normal school" when I was 5. Like Kathi I also cried but for a very different reason. My mum has always been overprotective, never letting me go anywhere with anybody and she wanted me to only go to school half day as a start, in order I get used to it. Well I cried because I wanted to go full day, LOL. I think my mum was a bit shocked by that but she agreed I go full day. I loved school, I think it was a way for me to be with other people, what I seldom was.

The only thing I really hated about school is that it wasn't far away enough from home. We lived in the City Center of Marseille, at the top of a very long steep street. I found a photo on Google, quite amazing. We were roughly where the red dot is :

Although we were only at the 2nd floor, our kitchen window looked over the school yard as from a 4th floor. If my mum was at the window and she was as soon as we had a break from learning, I could see her and she could see me. I always found this extremely uncomfortable, especially when she was talking to me with signs. It was like I was never free.

I started being able to go to school alone very quickly as there was no street to cross. My mum was leaving me at our door and she could see me arrive inside the school. Knowing it took 4 minutes or so to go there, if I wasn't home after 5, she was going down to meet me. It was very uncomfortable again and other kids were making fun of me.

My mum kept on telling me "You will see, when you will have kids". I never saw because I never have kids but I am sure I wouldn't have behaved that way. Anyway, may be she saved me from being kidnapped by a moron and without her I wouldn't be here today.

I don't have any photos to show you, my mum says I will inherit them. I searched Google for ages, but can't find anything about that school.

Next time I will talk about high school.

Take care everybody, xxx

You describe your frustration very well Anne, I can understand why too. Love that old photo, what a steep road. x
