They announce some really bad weather coming from the States and we should have a storm tonight or tomorrow. We are definitely in Autumn now.
It's a pity I already took my photo for S, as yesterday Hubby was doing his best to look like . . . Superman :
Today I took a photo for E, E like enormous : My collection of travel guides.
I even already had a sort out a couple of years ago.
I was very lucky in my life, because when I went to work in Germany, I was taking care of European customers and it was at a time where 1. The flights were cheaper if you were spending the week-end and 2. I was single, so my company was saving money even after paying for a cheaper flight and my hotel and food for the week-end and I got to spend fabulous free week-ends in Copenhagen, Stockholm, Madrid, Vienna, Lisbon . . . I even had a customer in South Africa, so I discovered its beautiful safari side and also visited other African countries around it.
Then when I changed work, the head-quarters of my new company were in Taiwan and I was flying there once a year. So stopping in HongKong, Singapore or Kuala Lumpur was becoming a habit and was also for free. I then also combined each trip to spend my holidays in Asia like in Korea, Philippines, Borneo, Bali . . . and flying from Taiwan was incredibly cheap.
Then as if I hadn't been lucky enough, the Taiwan people attached me to their American subsidiaries, so I was in NewYork and Los Angeles every 6 months, in Vegas once a year as we were doing a fair there and I visited the States quite a bit.
Then I met Hubby and moved to England, quit my job and decided I would leave my suitcases in a cupboard. Because he is a kind of clever guy, he wrote many papers on Robotics and many of them where accepted in conferences where he then needed to go and talk. So his flights and hotel were paid and we only had to pay for my flight. We went together to Boston, to Shanghai and next year, the conference will be in HongKong, so fingers crossed his papers are accepted as we decided that if we go, we will take my father in law with us so he can visit his sister.
As of the topic nicknames : I never had one for my mum, but I used to call my Dad
" Piniouf " or " Papa Piniouf ". It was a word I invented and I thought it was the most beautiful nickname ever. My dad always hated it, but silly as both my parent are, they didn't explain to me why, until when I was something like 25 and I had stopped using the nickname, so of course, I continued calling him that way for all my childhood.
The reason he hated it, is that there is a French Slang word written Pignouf ( I never heard about before of course) that describes somebody who is kind of stupid. Clear, he didn't like it . . .
Don't you think they could have told me earlier??? Parents are really silly sometimes . . .
Take are everybody, xxx

Thank you for sharing Anne and I do think Dennis is a marvellous person.
Wonderful post! WOW, you really are a world traveler! How exciting it must be to have been all of those places. I think your Dennis is very clever and I am sure he has invented some very innovative products.
I agree with Viv and JoyJoy -

I am so envious of all the travel. I would be happy to have enough time to explore the british isles properly, never mind the whole big wide world. I think it must give you a lot of wisdom and context. xxx
