Rainy but nice day

It is raining like anything and my girls are complaining not to go out, but each time I open the door, they rush back in like " OK, I know what you mean".

I talked to my Germans and it seems we are going ahead nicely so it was a good uplifting for my mood.

I don't remember if I told you, but my Dad is getting 90 in a couple of weeks and we are flying down to celebrate with him and the rest of the family. I had been thinking about what to offer him for ages, but he doesn't smoke, doesn't drink, doesn't use perfume, isn't interested in technology anymore and I always offer him reading books, so I wanted something different.

If you are in the UK, you might have heard about this 2 companies: Albelli and Bonusprint. They both print photos but also offer printed photo books and calendars . . .
I get some regular emails about voucher codes and I got these 2:

'Free' £15 photo book Code for new Albelli customers only

There's no minimum spend, so you could get a £9.99 photo book (5.2 inches x 3.9 inches, 24 pages, hard cover) for just the cost of delivery. Or you could use the code to get £10 off a more expensive photo book.

If you are an existing customer, just use another email address to get the discount.

I went for the one of Bonusprint and I got £10 off. The book should arrive in 7 days.
I must confess it took me 6 hours + to build it, but it was because I had to search through 90 years of photos, what takes quite a while. They also sent me a link to see the book online and honestly, it's gorgeous, so I am really pleased and I think my Dad will be very happy.

That's the cover of his book :

It says : a bit, a lot, with passion . . .

I took the photo last year when they were visiting and for fun he completely pushed the ice-cream in his mustache.

I used some other books promotions like that in the past and ended up with free small books, it was really nice. This time I went for a hardcover photo book with 34 pages I think and may be120 photos inside. The cost was £37 including delivery, so I only paid £27.

I thought I give you the link in case you have a special event coming as it is really worth it.

October Nostalgia Challenge : A giant leap

My second wonder is Internet. Yes, it's practical for leisure but for work, it's an absolute necessity. Without Internet, I never could have changed jobs the way I did. Especially the last one : I learnt programming through an online teaching company who is located in the States.

Each time, I have a problem on my programming or a question, I search on Internet and some other people had the same problem. The community is unbelievable.

I was talking about it with Dennis and the kids the other day and he explained he did his whole PhD by physically going to a Library and researching. The kids were laughing so much they almost got stomach cramps. One thing is sure : Young people have no compassion for the "not-Internet raised people" LOL.

Take care everybody, xxx

So true Anne, we lost electric one day and it was bad, but losing internet was almost as bad.. excpet we had lights! Your dad (and Dad in law) are such characters, enjoy them both.. humour is so cool in the elderly x

So true, I joined BT 3 weeks ago and had NO LINE on phones twice, before you call them you have to use the internet to do a self diagnostic test!

We leave for Italy next week and we HAD to print boarding passes before we get to the airport, wonder what elderly people do with no internet these days?

I enjoyed reading your post. How wonderful you still have your dad to celebrate with. It always seemed to me to be that the older my mother got, the more I cherished my time with her. My dad passed away when I was only 21 so we missed so much of life together. We have a company called Shutterfly that offers books, etc. like you ordered for your dad. I am sure he is going to just love it!
