Panic on board . . .

Ah what a day . . .

I went to the park with the girls and everything was fine. I took some pictures.

I used to watch Bob Ross on TV and when he was painted trees with snow, I always thought it was a bit unrealistic to have snow standing that way. well, so much for me, that's exactly how it is.

Bubbles was in a thinking mode today.

When we went back home, Dennis called me as he had spotted something amazing in the garden. I had never seen that before, amazing for sure.

Luckily I took the pictures immediately as to answer your question Helen, yes, our snow is melting, it even started raining.

So where does my title come from ?

Well apart from working a lot, I went downstairs around lunch time to give their carrots to the girls and let them into the garden. It was smelling gas incredibly. It wasn't coming from our house, it was in the back garden. I tried to call the emergency number, but they didn't pick up. The smell was increasing so much that we started panicking and I even called the police.

It surely would help if we were watching the news, lol. I don't know if you were affected Lynne, but I think you were at the right place. What the police explained is that a French company in Rouen had since yesterday morning a leakage of a gas ( that was supposed to be non-dangerous but smelled exactly like " normal " gas ) and because the winds changed, clouds brought the gas 200 miles away within England, until South London.

We just couldn't believe it. They asked people to stay indoors and close windows ( with this weather anyway, they all were ). Within the end of the afternoon, it started raining and I guess the winds changed again, as the smell was completely gone.

I don't have any photos today for the happy challenge quotation, because I was pretty infuriated after spending 40 minutes on the phone with the National Gas Emergency that was saying " we will take your call as soon as possible " and never picked up and the smell that managed to enter into the house was kind of making us sick. They described it as a mix of sweat and dead eggs. Yeah, exactly that . . .

For their defense (the emergency line) the police told us they received 60.000 calls within 2 hours.

Anyway, back to normal now.

Take care everybody, xxx

Anne such lovely photos that one of the icicles is fantastic.
I think today should be titled "things that made me angry"
You must have had a real fright today I would have been very worried if it was me.

yes Anne, Perdi arrived at 8am with Xanthe saying it smelt of gas at her village and here as well, I was too busy to ring the gas people as I thought plenty of people would and as we were then indoors didn't smell it again. We too didn't have any news on til Xanthe's dad came home at 5pm and told us about the gas leak in France LOL!!

wow at the icicles, they look great. We have had rain and sleet today, the snow is slowly melting and leaving us with slushmud. The igloo looks like an armchair, lol. Oh dear at the gas, it must have been a worry until you found out what it was.

Those icicles are amazing. Smelling gas is a worry, glad everything was alright in the end though. x

I love the icicles! Those are such great pictures. I'm sorry for your trouble with gas company. Utility companies here are famous for giving you the run around when you call them about a problem. Or even worse, you get a recording, not a real person.
