How can an intelligent dog do such stupid things ?

When Hubby travels, two events always happen.
The 1st one is planned : the dogs sleep upstairs in the bedroom.
The 2nd is NOT planned: something always goes wrong like heating, washing machine, sick dog . . .  You name it, it happens. Never on the day prior DH departure, just as soon as he's gone.

Many months ago, he was traveling and I woke up in the morning. It's always pretty early as the dogs do their best to get me out of bed as soon as they can. I open an eye and I see Rhea moving her tail, her head on my blanket. No sign of Bubbles. Oh Oh, strange !

I get up to check and what do I spot? The head of Bubbles just coming out from under the bed, obviously stuck. Wild moment of panic as our bed is so so heavy, hubby away, what am I going to do ? I decide to try and lift the foot of the bed a couple of centimeters high in the hope she could slide out. It takes a while and I am so so scared to drop the bed on her, but she makes it out. Everybody's happy.

Now, it's reasonnable to think she would have learnt from that, right?

This morning 6:15, I am woken up by the sound of wagging tails, one on the left of the bed and one of the right. I have 2 dogs so it seems pretty normal, but then, one tail seems to be wagging against plastic bags or so? There are no plastic bags on the floor ?

I open an eye and on the left, I can see Rhea moving her tail, her head on my blanket. On the right side of the bed however, still wagging tail sounds on plastic bags but no sign of Bubbles. I slide to the right of the bed to have a look and I see Bubbles head just coming out from under the bed with a kind of stupid look on her face like the "I didn't drive my car into the tree, the tree crossed the road".

I jump out of bed, sooooooooooo upset that another word should be invented and hopefully I manage to lift the foot again and Bubbles manages to get out. She must have felt that under the initial panic feeling, I was pretty crossed at her, because she just gave me a quick lick on the hand and rushed downstairs before I could tell her off.

I took a picture of the space where she got stuck. I even didn't manage to put the foot correctly back onto the iron disk, as it was so heavy to lift:

It measures 15.5 cms from the carpet to the wood, their blanket is a couple of cms thick, she is a really big dog, how does she manage to slide under the bed and how stupid can she be after having been stuck there once, to go back?

May be she wanted to check that after being stuck under the left side, the right side would be similar . . . Well now she should know.

Project 365+1 - Day 58 : Mist or Tree

No mist here today so I decided for the word "tree" and what better word than tree to allow for the return of the red whale . . .

Take care everybody, xxx

What a great perspective of your tree. Poor Bubbles. Is he ever going to learn?

Love your tree, I think we should name them.

Daft dog, I have some here as well :)

So good to hear of the return of the red whale. I wonder if you will get a column in the local paper, the ones where people can send in their 'spotted' reports. "Red Whale half-way up the tree" kind of ones :)
