Today is a strange day. It doesn't rain but it is wetter than ever so I thought that's what I am going to play with. There were plenty of jobs for the red whale and she did well.
From above, I thought these were leaves and I almost walked on them but no, they are small mushrooms
One of the flowers of yesterday but wet this time
Another wet flower
A dandelion without clothes
On the grass, the big water drops act as a magnifying glass and the small ones look like pearls.
Oh and by the way I followed your advice Jen. After downloading my photos of this morning, I sorted them out immediately !
Project 365+1 - Day 124 : Beautiful
Beautiful is a fantastic word. A while ago, I was talking about words meanings and the feelings they create in us. This word is such a good example.
To me physical beauty doesn't exist as such, we create it with our reactions to something or somebody.
A woman (or man) can have the perfect measurements that doesn't make her/him beautiful. Beauty is when you or others add something from inside. Mother Theresa, Gandhi weren't specially attractive people, but they were beautiful people. Nelson Mandela is a beautiful person.
In the same way when you look at something in nature, like flowers, a scenery, some animals, what makes them beautiful is the feeling they create in you and you give back. Therefore my beautiful might be your ugly.
Some people don't see beauty anywhere because they don't look and if they don't look they can't interact, that's a pity.
So where does it leave me with my photo ? Well as of each time I can't chose, I am going to share 2 of them, one taken today, the other one take last year.
The girls come from 2 very different backgrounds. Bubbles was born in a loving family and her character is happy and easy going. When she joined us, she was a joy from the start.
As of Rhea, it was a very different story. Although she was only 9 weeks when we took her home, we realized very quickly that she had been abused. She was scared of brooms, of quick moves and of almost any noise.
Sadly her instinct was telling her that safety was away from humans and it took her a long time to trust us. It eventually happened and I developped a very deep relationship with her.
She is still strong headed, she often disobeys and she can be a real pain, but sometimes she comes to me and sticks her tongue on my hand. That's her way to ask for a cuddle and it is a wonderful experience. She has a good heart, she is very faithful and when we look into each other's eyes, she tells me a lot of loving things.
There are much prettier dogs than her and Bubbles for example is, but her story is so moving and if you take the time to go through her protection wall, you find a kind dog who is scared and just needs a lot of love .
All that makes her the most beautiful dog to me. I always tell her " You are my most beautiful girl but don't tell Bubbles, she would be jealous ! "
I took this picture today. She is getting older and has a bit white now. Bless her !
The 2 people below have many more wrinkles than they would like (especially the lady), they do things slowly now and their mind isn't as sharp as it used to be. They can drive me nuts by still treating me as if I were 5 years old, when they visit they re-organize my kitchen cupboards so when they leave we hardly find things anymore, they are so stubborn that I don't have to look far to know where my own stubborness comes from. Yes they are all that and more.
On the other side we didn't have a lot of money growing up but we never missed anything, they gave my brother and I the possibility to study and as long as we are happy, whatever we do, they are happy too and they support us.
Meet my Mum and Dad, 87 and 88 in September last year. They are good people and that makes them beautiful to me.
Take care everybody, xxx

I love both of your choices for beautiful today. Your parents look like lovely people. I also have a soft spot for both of your dogs (they are one of my fave breeds anyway)- Rhea is the one that reminds me the most of Holly. She's more of a free spirit!
Holly was my first thought when I saw the prompt today.
Your words struck a chord- because I read a great quote this week that meant exactly the same thing. That true beauty wasn't just the outward appearance of something- it came from within. So the most beautiful 'people' are those whose kindness and thoughfulness reflect true beauty.
I loved reading your post today, the macro photos are fabulous :)
Your words about beauty are so true and your parents look wonderful, and beautiful.
Rhea, well she is beautiful, of course. XX
PS Glad you took my advice, but I think it was more to do with your experience lol xx
love the photos, the grass with the raindrops is brilliant.
well what can i say apart from... why oh why did you not send me a tissue warning? :P
i love all the nature shots.. when i was little i used to sit for ages and watch fascinated at flowers/grass with dew or raindrops, expecting to find a tiny little universe in there somewhere. I could spin whole tales of what happened in those other worlds, so i really love looking and re-imagining all that when i check up on your flower photos.
I think my beautiful IS thankfully the same as yours :) the girls go without saying (goldies and labs ARE my favs shhh dont tell Coopy or hell be jealous) and i can see the resemblance between you and your parents shining through like beacons! the gentleness and kindness, yet theres also a big glint of mischievousness in there ;) especially in your dad and you, you definitely take that from him!
well done on organising your photos, wish i could say the same, i have half heartedly started on "the pets", "the humans" and "366" folders but dont seem to be getting anywhere in a hurry.. luckily i am not taking as many photos as you.
The raindrops on the grass photo is stunning - and love the photos of your parents. My Mum refused to let me take any photos of her when I visited last month - maybe it reminds her too much of her disabilities
The 'wet' photos are fab and I love the naked dandilion :o
You write about your parents with love and sincerity, seeing beauty even when they drive you nuts! I recognise those habits as my 87 MIL lives with us!
You are so right, we see the beauty of the whole thing, the experience, the view, it's so hard to imagine seeing the same thing from a different viewpoint.. xx
Your parents remind me so much of mine. You have brought back some beautiful memories for me.
